Carlos Boozer Punches Ref Danny Crawford In The Nuts
Mistakes happen. Uncontested dunks hit the back of the rim and bounce off. Players forget the shot clock is running down and hold on to the ball too long. Lamar Odom played a lost season with the Dallas Mavericks.
But sometimes mistakes are thinly veiled exercises in vengeance. Case in point: Carlos Boozer’s low blow to ref Danny Crawford during the second quarter of Saturday’s Bulls game against Dallas. The Mavericks beat the Bulls 100-98
In case you don’t know, the Bulls were denied a winning basket two weeks ago against the Denver Nuggets. The botched call was enough for Comcast SportsNet Analyst Kendall Gill to engage in a physical altercation with Big Ten analyst Tim Doyle over critical comments Doyle made regarding Gill’s game analysis. The physical altercation resulted in Gill’s on-air suspension for the rest of the season.
Was Boozer’s shot to the nuts a pure mistake stemming from excitement over getting the foul call? Or was it retaliation for the way the Bulls were shafted in the Nuggets game?
Who knows? For anyone who saw the controversial Bulls-Nuggets overtime call, there is no doubt that NBA refs deserve a little ball busting.
The alarming aspect of the Boozer punch is just how well Danny Crawford takes it. Either Crawford’s manly area is completely obliterated from years of taking fists to the groin from ecstatic NBA players or Boozer’s right hook is as useless as his defense.
